• The original shooting script concluded with the following monologue:

  GIRL: I studied science in college. And I did this experiment where you raise these mice and then you take the mice and get them addicted to cigarettes? And then you like, give the mice a choice; quit cigarettes and get all the food you want, or keep smoking but you have to live in a much smaller box - AND it’s painted black. And what’s really sad about it is, the mice ALWAYS choose the cigarettes. It’s just like a really sad metaphor, but in a way, if you think about it, it’s also really beautiful and true.
